Investing In What Makes Us Human: Leadership, Creativity and Institutions in the Age of AI
Artificial intelligence is transforming how we work, learn, create and organise society. As enormous amounts of capital and attention flow into the technological infrastructure of the AI era, an equally important question emerges: what should we be investing in to ensure that human beings and human institutions continue to flourish? Join the Harvard Club of Singapore for an evening exploring what becomes more important – not less – as technology becomes more capable.
Prof. James P. Honan of the Harvard Graduate School of Education & Harvard Kennedy School, Kenneth Kwok, CEO of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (HGSE 2007), and Anne Kim of Alphavita Capital (HGSE 2027, HBS PLD 2016, Penn 2005) will explore the investments societies and institutions must make in human capability, creativity, health, education, leadership, community and resilient institutions in the age of AI.
The conversation will consider what changes when intelligence and information are no longer scarce; which distinctly human capabilities become more valuable; what creativity and culture mean when machines can create; and how institutions can adapt to technological change without abandoning their missions.
The evening ultimately asks: as machines become increasingly capable, what capabilities, experiences and institutions will remain distinctly human — and how should we invest in them?
