A Guided Tour of Kwai Fung Hin’s Debut Exhibition in Singapore

A big thanks to Hong Kong’s Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery for hosting our Harvard Club of Singapore’s alumni to an insightful and lively private guided tour of their debut exhibition in Singapore during the hectic F1 weekend. In about an hour, Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery’s Associate Director Timmy Kam explained how eleven internationally established modern and contemporary artists across cultures and generations respond to the changing landscape, both physical and conceptual, as a site of artistic inspiration as well as personal and shared histories. Our alumni had an enlightening and educational experience in viewing and understanding the works by contemporary artists such as Li Huayi, Xue Song, Ziad Dalloul, Bai Ming and Ju Ming, and by modern artists such as Bernard Buffet, Georges Mathieu, Oswaldo Vigas, Bernard Cathelin, Claude Venard and Lalan. Good questions were also posed by our alumni to Timmy Kam on the artists’ backgrounds, their relationships with nature, art and tradition. In summary, it was an enjoyable and reflective afternoon being in a gallery and away from a high-octane Singapore F1 carnival.
