A Guided Tour of Silent Voices – Still Life Paintings of Pierre Boncompain, Ziad Dalloul and Denis Laget

A big thanks to Hong Kong’s Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery for hosting our Harvard Club of Singapore’s alumni to an exclusive and educational tour of “Silent Voices”, an art exhibition exploring the enduring resonance of still life through the works of Pierre Boncompain, Ziad Dalloul, and Denis Laget.

Through the Gallery’s Associate Director Timmy Kam, our alumni had a meaningful experience in immersing themselves in exploring and interpreting paintings crafted by those French artists.

Originally grounded in quiet observation, the still life genre has evolved over the centuries to convey not just material richness, but also emotional depth, artistic innovation, and complex conceptual themes.

Our alumni had fun questioning and understanding why Pierre Boncompain’s radiant compositions capture the warmth and spirit of Mediterranean life and harmonious colour schemes; Ziad Dalloul turns everyday objects into thoughtful reflections on personal space, vast landscapes, and the dynamics between stillness and transformation; and Denis Laget draws inspiration from crafts-textured floral pieces that explore the delicate beauty and fleeting nature of life.

Collectively, their art highlights the enduring resonance of still life as a medium for introspection and artistic renewal.
